The Seagram wall lamp is inspired by the first skyscraper designed by the renowned German-American architect Mies van der Rohe. Located on Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York City, the Seagram building, completed in 1958, embodies modernism and functionalist aesthetics. The lamp draws inspiration from the building’s structure, featuring vertical non-structural bronze elements, representing an external protective structure.
The Seagram wall lamp is meticulously crafted from a carved block of Estremoz marble, encased by vertical brass blades, echoing modern metal structures. This homage to Mies’ belief in the visibility of structural elements connects the design to the principles of the International style. The lamp reflects the architectural elegance of New York's skyline.
