The Seagram table lamp receives its name from the first skyscraper designed by the renowned German-American architect Mies van der Rohe. Located on Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York City, the Seagram building, completed in 1958, embodies modernism and functionalist aesthetics. This lamp draws inspiration from the building’s structure, which features vertical non-structural bronze elements, an external expression of a protective structure.
The Seagram lamp is crafted with a block of Estremoz marble encased by vertical brass blades, evoking modern metal structures in homage to Mies' belief in the visibility of structural elements.
