Samuel Latour
Rabastens, France | Artist & Sculptor
Samuel Latour is a French artist and sculptor based in Rabastens, near Toulouse. A graduate of the École Boulle in Paris, he trained in art turning, particularly in wood and bronze, before developing his practice alongside designers, artisans, and artists in studios and art foundries.
Each sculpture is rooted in a deep, tactile relationship with materials. Working with wood, bronze, steel, or plaster, Latour explores the dialogue between technique and intuition. Through precise gestures of turning, molding, chasing, he investigates the tension between flowing lines and structured forms, balance and movement.
Latour conceives his works as volumes to be written: an abstract language of drawn lines, suspended gestures, and sketched geometries. Each piece carries the imprint of its making, balancing formal rigour with the vitality of the hand.
From his studio by the Tarn river, he creates a body of work where sculpture becomes both a space for material exploration and an extension of the moving body. His work has been recognized by the Rémy Cointreau Foundation and featured in the Homo Faber Guide by the Michelangelo Foundation, celebrating excellence in contemporary craft and artistic savoir-faire.
